Name: Alastair Young
Position: Principal Systems Engineer – Wabtec
Short Bio: Alastair has over a decade of engineering experience across multiple industries. With degrees in both the humanities and engineering, he began his career in the defence industry before making the move to the transport industry. In the last 5 years, Alastair has been a part of two of the most significant infrastructure projects in Victoria, the Metro Tunnel Project (MTP) and Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR). Although there has been diversity in the industry and projects over his career, the constants have been the application of Systems Engineering principals and the use of specialised tools to support this work, specifically DOORS.
