SETE24 Paper Exam

We are pleased to announce that SETE24 will include a INCOSE Knowledge Exam.

The exam will be held on Monday the 23rd of September at 13:30 AEST at the conference venue, Pullman on the Park, Melbourne.

Registration will close on the 10th of September and will cost 30USD.

Follow the steps below to register:

  1. Log in to https://portal.incose.org
  2. Click on “Certifications” in the menu banner
  3. Select “Register for an Exam”
  4. Click on tile for appropriate exam.
  5. Click on hyperlink for “Registration” and follow the prompts to complete registration.

Welcome Paul Pearce – our new Treasurer!

We are excited to welcome Paul Pearce to the SESA committee as our new Treasurer!

Paul holds bachelor’s degrees in mechatronic engineering and mathematical and computer sciences, and postgraduate qualifications in defence industry leadership, nuclear engineering and military systems integration. Paul has worked in naval submarine engineering for nearly twenty years, principally at the front end of major programs, including the replacement of the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines. Welcome Marco Meloni – Defence and Aerospace Domain Lead

We have a new committee member joining us, Marco Meloni our new Defence and Aerospace Domain Lead. Please join me in welcoming him to the committee!

Marco is a passionate engineering executive with over 20 years’ experience in the field of engineering in both the Defence Industry and Government sectors. Throughout his career, Marco has had direct leadership responsibility for the design and engineering assurance of mission-critical systems for medium and large projects in Australia and Europe.

Marco joined Jacobs Australia in January 2015 and following a series of appointments to senior roles with the AIR5431 Phase 3 project team within the Airservices Australia OneSKY program, he was appointed to his current role as Chief Engineer of Air Defence Systems (ADS) Branch in early 2021.… Read more

The Systems Engineering Society of Australia (SESA) is calling for expressions of interest (EOIs) for Branch Committee members across the following states:

  • Queensland
  • New South Wales
  • Victoria

If you are from another state outside of the above three, please let us know by return email which state you are in, and if you would be interested in volunteering for a future SESA Branch – we can then review dependant on interest.

Welcome to our new Communications and Engagement Lead – Mikaela Stewart

We have new committee members joining us this year, including Mikaela Stewart our new Communications and Engagement Lead. Please join me in welcoming her to the committee!

Mikaela was previously our Early Career Manager from 2020 and was pivotal in establishing the 2020 and 2021 SESA mentoring programs and was also involved in the Australian Systems Engineering Workshops (ASEW) during 2020 and 2021.

Special thanks to our outgoing Committee Member Emma-Rose Tildesley

As we farewell 2023 we also farewell some of our SESA Executive Committee members. Emma has been the SESA Communications and Engagement Lead for the past two and a half years, a difficult role in a time of lockdowns and video conferencing overload, with some key achievements with the help of volunteers Chris Browne, Mikaela Stewart, Sui Yi, Simon Sinnott, Ryan Messina, and many more, these achievements include:

  • Two successful SESA Mentoring Programs
  • Development of SESA Digital Strategy
  • Refresh of SESA Microsoft Accounts
  • Management of key digital channels including a significant uplift in SESA LinkedIn followers
  • Promotion of SESA events

Welcome to the new SESA Technical Director – Thomas Manley!

We are pleased to announce our new SESA Technical Director – Thomas Manley.

Thomas has held the role of the SESA Telecommunications domain lead for the past two years.

Thomas has over 20 years experience working in in the Telecommunications industry as a Systems Engineer / Architect with strong experience in capability development, systems engineering, enterprise architectire, technical delivery, business and leadership.

He has a BE in Systems Engineering, a BSc in Chemistry and an MBA from ANU.

Thomas has been an active part of many SESA and INCOSE initiatives and working groups including:

  • Supporting the delivery of SESA virtual Systems Events following the cancellation of SETE 2020 due to the Covid pandemic
  • SESA Initiative towards developing a resilience framework of Australia as a System
  • SESA Response to Australian Governments Consultation Paper on Protecting Critical Infrastructure and Systems of National Significance (October 2020)
  • SESA Response on Exposure Draft Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure) Bill 2020 (November 2020)
  • SESA telecommunications working group
  • SETE 2022 planning towards delivery in September as our first physical conference following the cancellation of SETE 2020

We are pleased to announce our new SESA President Jawahar Bhalla (JB).

 

JB will officially start 1 July 2022, he is currently the SESA Technical Director and has been acting President for the last few months to smooth the transition.

JB is a passionate Systems professional with 30+ years’ experience established across multi-national organisations in technical and strategic leadership roles delivering complex capabilities across sectors. Happy new year to all our SESA members!

We have some exciting news for 2022 – we will be combining the Systems Engineering Test and Evaluation (SETE) conference and the Australian Systems Engineering Workshop (ASEW) into a single consolidated event in September 2022. More news on the format and function of this event will be coming to you in February.
