SUMMARY:Additive Manufacturing in Defence: Enabling Resilience and Adaptability
DESCRIPTION:Join us and our new ACT branch online or in person at EA headquarters in Canberra to discover how AM strengthens supply chain resilience\, enables on-demand part production\, and supports rapid sustainment in contested or resource-constrained environments. Through real-world applications\, you will see how AM empowers forward repair\, battlefield adaptability\, and reduces reliance on vulnerable supply chains.\nA live demonstration will showcase the AM workflow. From preparing a model in slicing software to printing an “impossible geometry” part achievable only with AM. While the print progresses\, discussion will open on key challenges including certification\, deployment\, and the logistical trade-offs of adopting AM. Participants will also gain insight into AM’s role within systems engineering—shaping policy\, guiding capability development\, and enabling mission adaptability. \nRegistration is required for attendance. \n  \n  \nAbout the speaker\n \n\nDr. Daniel Eggler leads U.S. operations at EIT\, delivering practice-based technical education tailored to defence and engineering professionals. He ensures EIT’s programs support workforce capability and national security. With over a decade of leadership in mechanical and manufacturing engineering education\, he combines hands-on workshops with evidence-based teaching. Previously\, he lectured at UNSW Sydney\, receiving the Faculty of Engineering Educational Excellence & Innovation Award twice. He holds a Ph.D. in acoustics and vibration.\n\n\nIn-person \n4:30 pm AEDT– Networking & refreshments for In-Person attendees \n5:00 pm AEDT– Event starts \n5:05 pm AEDT– Introduction to SESA and Branch launch by SESA President \n5:15 pm AEDT– Presentation by Daniel Eggler \n6:00 pm AEDT– Q&A \n6:30 pm AEDT– End \n  \nOnline \n5:00 pm AEDT– Webinar starts \n5:05 pm AEDT– Introduction to SESA and Branch launch by SESA President \n5:15 pm AEDT– Presentation by Daniel Eggler \n6:00 pm AEDT– Q&A \n6:30 pm AEDT– End
