SUMMARY:Simplifying ETCS level 2 integration - Hybrid event (in-person and online)
DESCRIPTION:For rail operators\, deploying advanced technologies such as European Train Control System (ETCS) L2 and traffic management systems represents both a major change and a significant challenge. In many instances these transformation projects involve the integration of unfamiliar COTS products into existing systems. At the same time operators are faced with the need to avoid disruption by trying to minimise the impact the new systems will have on their operational procedures. Based on project experience\, this presentation outlines an interface management approach that has successfully de-risked the deployment of ETCS L2 and enabled its integration into an existing railway. The presentation will guide you through the 12 steps of successful interface management and how the process can be supported with the use of Model-Based Systems Engineering. \nIn this presentation\, you will understand: \n\nthe steps taken to identify and implement interfaces for successful ETCS L2 deployment\nthe tools and methods used to manage interfaces\nlessons we’ve learnt and risks we mitigated.\n\nThis event will be offered both in-person in Sydney and online. Details and registration can be found at the Engineers Australia event page. \nProgram\nIn-person: \n\n5.30 pm AEST: Registration opens\n6.00 pm AEST: Event begins\n7.00 pm AEST: Event concludes\n\nOnline: \n\n6.00 pm AEST: Event begins\n7.00 pm AEST: Event concludes\n\nAbout the speaker\n\n\n\nNico Teulier\, Principal Consultant Systems Engineering and Executive Director – Acmena\n\n\nNico is a Principal Consultant Systems Engineering at Acmena with more than 20 years of experience in systems engineering across the rail\, aerospace and mobile communications industries. Nico has experienced the good\, the bad and the ugly of interface management. His experience includes Metro Tunnel Project\, TfNSW Digital Systems Program\, Sydney Metro\, Suburban Rail Loop\, Cross River Rail\, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail\, and The Wave. His deep expertise in systems engineering\, requirements management\, verification and validation plays a key role in his approach to defining efficient interface management approaches.

SUMMARY:How AI is transforming Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
DESCRIPTION:Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is essential for managing the growing complexity of modern systems. With the rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI)\, MBSE is undergoing a significant transformation. AI-powered capabilities are enabling automation of requirements engineering\, intelligent derivation of use cases\, and faster design iterations using prompt-driven approaches. These advancements are helping organizations improve efficiency\, reduce errors\, and accelerate development cycles. This session will focus on how AI integrates with MBSE workflows\, supported by real-world examples and demonstrations using tools such as IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM)\, IBM BOB\, and IBM Rhapsody. Attendees will gain insights into how human-in-the-loop AI enhances decision-making\, improves system quality\, and fosters collaboration across engineering teams. The session will highlight practical applications and strategies to adopt AI-driven MBSE in enterprise environments. \nThis event is produced by the Systems Engineering Society of Australia (SESA). \nThis event will be offered both in-person in Sydney and online. Food and refreshments will be provided at this event. Details and registration can be found at the Engineers Australia event page. \nLearning outcomes\nIn this presentation\, you will learn: \n\nhow AI can support requirements engineering\, use case development\, and systems modelling within MBSE environments\nhow human-in-the-loop AI approaches can improve engineering decision-making\, quality\, and traceability\npractical techniques for accelerating design iterations using AI-assisted workflows and prompt-based engineering methods\nhow AI-enabled engineering tools are being applied in real-world systems engineering environments.\n\nProgram\nIn-person \n\n5.30 pm AEST: Registration opens\n6.00 pm AEST: Presentation begins\n7.00 pm AEST: Presentation concludes and guest depart\n\nOnline: \n\n6.00 pm AEST: Webinar begins\n7.00 pm AEST: Webinar concludes\n\nAbout the speakers\n  \n\n\n\n\nSean Innes\nTechnical Sales Manager\, IBM\nBiography\nSean Innes is the Technical Customer Success Leader for IBM Australia and New Zealand\, leading teams that help organisations modernise engineering and software delivery through digital transformation.
