The Integrated Project Engineering Congress (IPEC)
Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 8:00 am - Friday, May 28, 2021 from 5:00 pm
The inaugural Integrated Project Engineering Congress (IPEC), developed in response to market demand, promises to be one of industry’s most influential, transdisciplinary events, covering topics of Leadership and Management, whilst bringing together representatives from within the fields of Risk, Systems Engineering, Cost Engineering, Project Controls and Asset Management.
All presentations will be delivered virtual to participants, providing the opportunity to network and watch the presentations anywhere in the world. The program format will allow for Technical Presentations in the morning followed by networking online on the virtual platform. In the afternoon, on each day we will hear from our Plenary Speakers who will provide an insight and talk in their professional field with a focus on our congress themes.
IPEC will provide participants with access to:
- An exciting line-up of national speakers
- A Technical Program that will deliver over 75 presentations from the various fields
- Participants can claim up to 14 hours of CPD
- Connect and engage with our product specialists in the Technology Hub
- Opportunity to attend an evening Networking opportunity for the afternoon session on the following designated day alternatively delegates can view presentations online:
- Thursday 27 May: Engineers Australia Brisbane Office, Level 9/340 Adelaide Street, Brisbane City, QLD 4000
- Friday 28 May: Engineers Australia Sydney Office, Mezzanine Level, 44 Market Street Sydney NSW 2000
- Presentations will be streamed virtually into the offices, and will conclude with Networking Reception

Our future world: megatrends, the interaction of AI with humans and the importance of governance in transformation
Digitisation is the central theme to this series of presentations. Dr Hajkowicz will provide an update on CSIRO’s global megatrends, which are gradual yet powerful shifts in the environment and, he will share the drivers that are going to reshape the landscape and impact the engineering profession over the coming 20 years. Technology, climate change, emerging economies, digitisation will all be covered in his presentation. Professor Paul Salmon and Gemma Read will outline the consideration of human factors that need to be made when designing AI-based systems, whilst Sandra Diethelm will talk about effective governance frameworks that are critical in the delivery of any change or transformation project.

Complex systems, situations and projects: finding pathways for success
Complexity, systems and projects are the central themes to this series of presentations.
Large capital projects which have lasting impacts on local and wider communities tend to be planned, managed and implemented by engineers. Similarly, solutions to complex systems challenges faced by our world have to be designed by people, engineers in particular. Hear from Mark Betts who will share some of his experiences of his 40 years delivering projects in both the private and government sector and John Blackburn AO will share insights into the future and the importance of creating a resilient and sustainable world for future generations. Finally, Kerry Lunney FIEAust will draw on her systems engineering experience to look at complex systems solutions that arise with the introduction of new technologies such as AI and autonomy to establish pathways that adapt and apply to a systems approach.
