JB will officially start 1 July 2022, he is currently the SESA Technical Director and has been acting President for the last few months to smooth the transition.
JB is a passionate Systems professional with 30+ years’ experience established across multi-national organisations in technical and strategic leadership roles delivering complex capabilities across sectors. He continues to contribute to the understanding and advancement of Systems Thinking, Systems Engineering and Modelling & Simulation locally, regionally, and globally, through leadership roles in peak bodies including SESA and Simulation Australasia.… Read more
Happy new year to all our SESA members!
We have some exciting news for 2022 – we will be combining the Systems Engineering Test and Evaluation (SETE) conference and the Australian Systems Engineering Workshop (ASEW) into a single consolidated event in September 2022. More news on the format and function of this event will be coming to you in February.
Additionally we are working hard to bring back face-to-face, physical, in-person events in a COVID-safe way in areas it is safe to do so.… Read more
SESA is in the process of establishing systems engineering Working Group for the engineers, scientists, project managers and business professionals working in defence sector within the ACT – The SESA ACT Defence Working Group.
Aman Singh is taking a lead on organising and conducting regular weekly systems engineering workshops for the SESA ACT Defence Working Group.

After the success of last years pilot mentoring program SESA is running the program again!
All are welcome to participate as either potential Mentor or Mentee, and as we had last year, you can nominate yourself as someone who has an interest in being either or both.
Mikaela Stewart and Chris Browne are back with our fresh volunteer Ryan Messina. Together they will organise and coordinate the mentoring program for 2021.
Due to COVID-19 situation, the program will be virtual. The program will be structured with several formally organised touchpoints, as well as the opportunity for the mentor, mentee or anyone to catch up more casually.… Read more

2020 Mentoring Program Recap
Last year, the focus of our SE community mentoring program was a 4-week networking opportunity. Many Early Career members were keen to meet and ask questions about SE with people outside of their org chart, and we found that a few “Ask an Expert” sessions before starting the mentoring helped them break the ice, identified areas of growth and support, and also helped everyone find the ‘right’ mentor-mentee pair/group.… Read more
Australia’s own Grace Kennedy is the proud recipient of the INCOSE Sector Scholarship award.
This award is new and provides the recipient with complimentary registration for the upcoming INCOSE International Symposium.
Grace was nominated for this award based on her significant ongoing contributions to SESA and INCOSE events and activities including:
- initiating, supporting, leading and facilitating events including the SESA Virtual Systems Forums, Australian Systems Engineering Workshop, Systems Engineering, Test and Evaluation conference, and the recent Integrated Project Engineering Conference
- providing key contributions to the SESA resilience initiative and working group and related SESA submissions to the Australian government
- coordinating the update of the INCOSE Human Systems Integration handbook
Grace is a systems engineering researcher at the University of Wollongong, she is a Chartered Engineering Professional in Systems Engineering and an INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional.… Read more

So much has happened over the last year in these unprecedented times and I wanted to give you an update on SESA’s activities and operations since the new SESA Executive Committee started in July 2020.
At our last General Meeting (June 2020), I outlined four broad objectives for SESA for the next two years:
Objective 1 – Increase member engagement and perception of value
Objective 2 – Better leverage SESAs relationships with EA, INCOSE and other groups to deliver value for its members
Objective 3 – Improve Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in membership and events
Objective 4 – Ensure simple, light-touch, sustainable, transparent, ethical Leadership and Governance of member funds
